Dhanushka Hewapathirana
Dhanushka Hewapathirana studied Veterinary Medicine at the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka, and graduated in 2019. She completed internships at the Veterinary Investigation Centre and Veterinary Teaching Hospital, further improving her skills in diagnostics and clinical care.
Following graduation, Dhanushka transitioned into academia, serving as a temporary lecturer and clinician in the Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Peradeniya, for four years.
During her tenure as a junior academic, she became involved in scientific research and collaborated with senior academic members in the fields of Anticancer effects of herbal plants, tumors in companion animals, and regenerative medicine.
Driven by a keen interest in advancing her knowledge and experience in anti-cancer drug resistance and comparative pathology, she recently joined the Institute of Animal Pathology, University of Bern, to pursue her PhD and Veterinary Pathology residency. Currently, she is working as an intern at Compath, where she continues to expand her knowledge and expertise in veterinary comparative pathology.
